Black Lives Matter.✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻

This doesn't mean only Black lives matter, because of course, all lives matter. But we can't say all lives matter when Black lives, Black trans lives, are in danger and are being discriminated against.

As a company with roots in America πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ, the past few weeks have been heartbreaking and inspiring. And now that this movement has ignited discussions about race and discrimination in Japan πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅, it has become even clearer that we cannot and should not remain silent 😢.

There is no place for discrimination in our community. We recognize that we as a company and as individuals must actively identify and counter both overt and covert forms of discrimination.

This is a global, systemic problem that will not go away unless we face it head on. It will be uncomfortable at times, but we hope that does not stop us and our communities from confronting it and confronting those who perpetuate it whether knowingly or unknowingly.

We have identified two ways that we can help. Here is how we feel we can best contribute:

1️⃣ DESIGNING CURRICULUM πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ«: We are compiling a document of resources in Japanese that we will eventually turn into curriculum to educate people on discrimination, ally-ship, equity, and race. This document is not complete by any means and we had plans to release it in a later date. However, we hope that by providing it early, the contents can be valuable to people in every stage of its development.πŸ‘‡

2️⃣ SPACE & AMPLIFICATION πŸ”ˆ: In July, we hope to begin cautiously holding in-person events again. If you are looking for space to hold a social justice event, please let us know and we would be happy to accommodate. If you would like to do an online event about social justice, we are happy to lend you use of our Zoom webinar subscription and help with marketing and logistics.

We hope that through the above, we can provide better understanding and resources to tackle discrimination and dismantle biases in our community that limit society from moving forward and truly prospering. πŸ¦‹

When people ask for help, we should always listen and reply with empathy and compassion. Black lives matter. Black trans lives matter. Black stories matter. Black experiences matter. Black achievements matter.

We are listening and learning and we urge everyone to do the same. Thank you.

Black lives matter. See you at the march.
