On our last notion account, this collection of photos/videos was my bio. This time in Thailand I referred back to as a way of understanding who i am here. Now 5 years later I’m starting to feel more integrated with the past before my extended travel, and as well something of internal form emerging from this time since.

(When we started this project, I watched David integrate his whole life, ancestry, and sense of purpose into his writing. I felt fragmented and lacking conviction. Now, I have the perspective that he was writing from the last years of his life, from near the end. I’m about to turn 29. I’m also understanding that I have the potential keep living a lot longer than I once thought.)

I’m writing from where my mom lives now, a prairie/wetland in southern Wisconsin. This land was Potawatomi, which stretches all along the southern shore of lake Michigan, encompassing Chicagoland, where I was raised, and east past Detroit, where my mom grew up and where her dad still lives. Potawatomi land also spans across to the western part of Illinois, where I lived in Galesburg for 4 years while attending Knox College.
