- Welcome to CivilizationOS, the open-source resource database for regenerative, Gameb, protopian collectives and communities.
- As outlined in our [[Founding Charter]], we describe civilization is a set of patterns which form belief systems, worldviews, and actions. Many concerned human beings on planet Earth have recognized that the patterns informing our current civilization are self-terminating. As a species, we face the challenge and opportunity to fundamentally re-create the base patterns of our civilization or face massive planetary ecological cascades which could potentially result in human extinction. We don’t know which patterns of human civilization will create the most thriving possible planet, but we can consciously choose to begin inventing, consolidating, and refining our knowledge of these patterns. As an experimental open knowledge commons and international cooperative, CivilizationOS is a repository for the fundamental patterns of human activity on the planet, divided into 13 domains and stacked in 5 holonic scales.
- Together, we’re sharing our knowledge in the following pattern domains:
- These domains of knowledge can also be viewed the following holonic scales:
- We’re also gathering data around the processes we use to discover, implement, experiment with, and refine these base patterns. We use the following [[Process Patterns]]:
- As the community using this database grows, the founding intention is to gather feedback on how these patterns work or fail in the ‘real-world.’ Each pattern can be remixed, refined, and recombined, with each pattern branching out into different experimental contexts. Similar to open-source code projects that are collaboratively created, forked / modified, and compiled, our collective intelligence will make self-evident which patterns and combinations of patterns create the most optimal and contextual CivilizationOS.
- How to contribute:
- First, read all entries in the [[Process Patterns]] section and add your name as a signatory to the Contributor Agreement Page.
- Second, add a brief bio and picture to the CivOS Contributors section of the Practitioners x Facilitators Page
- Third, determine which category or sub-category best suites the pattern you’d like to add to the database (patterns can also be cross posted to multiple categories).
- Add your pattern to the category by creating a bracketed “reference” using the double-bracket feature (See Roam Help Videos for more Details)
- Click on the reference and add the pattern details using the appropriate data entry template.
- Share the reference on the CivOS Discord to celebrate and seek feedback!
