This is the core of our daily work.
Today, Upsala-Circus runs 6 regular circus groups in Zeitz, engaging more than 120 children and teenagers aged 4 to 18 in weekly artistic training, creative development, and collective creation.
For us, circus is far more than technical training.
It is a space where young people develop confidence, resilience, discipline, teamwork, and creative expression. They learn to trust their bodies, take artistic risks, collaborate with others, and gradually discover their own voice — both on stage and beyond it.
For many children, this is their first experience of being part of a stable, supportive creative community. For teenagers, it can become a space for deeper artistic exploration, responsibility, self-expression, and, in some cases, the beginning of a professional artistic path.
Our work with young people is intentionally long-term and continuity-based. We focus on creating regular structures and trusted relationships that allow children and teenagers to grow over time, rather than offering isolated short-term activities.
Alongside our regular circus programmes, we work closely with schools and educational institutions, integrating circus and creative methods into learning environments as tools for participation, inclusion, dialogue, and experiential education.

Between is a performance about the fragile moment in between a time when being a child is no longer possible, but it is still unclear how to be an adult. These are stories created by 10 young artists aged 11–18.
At the centre of the performance is a structure made of scaffolding, resembling a house that is constantly transforming. Inside, different spaces appear: a kitchen, a wardrobe, an attic, a rooftop under the night sky and each place becomes a personal story of a performer.
The performance grew out of stories, texts, and images developed during a residency in November 2025.
Between is a space created by teenagers. A space they don’t open to everyone.
