Car sales in China increased 12.6 percent year-on-year to 2.77 million in November 2020, the eight straight month of increase, as the vehicle market comes off lows hit during the coronavirus lockdown. Meantime, sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs), which include battery-powered electric, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles surged 104.9 percent to 200,000, the fifth straight month of increase. Considering the first eleven months of 2020, car sales fell 2.9 percent from a year earlier, compared to a 9.1 percent drop in the same period of 2019. China Association of Automobile Manufacturers expects car sales this year of more than 20 million passenger vehicles and 5 million commercial vehicles, which include trucks and buses. China sold 25.77 million vehicles last year.
