Purpose:
This policy outlines how ElectroMinds protects children who engage with our services.
Scope:
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, and board members who may work with children in any capacity.
Legal Framework:
This policy operates in accordance with the Children First Act 2015, the Criminal Justice (Withholding of Information on Offences Against Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012, and the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012–2016.
Key Practices:
All individuals working directly with children must undergo Garda vetting. Adults interacting with children are required to behave respectfully, avoid unsupervised one-to-one contact, and report any concerns to the Designated Liaison Person (DLP). All concerns or disclosures will be reported by the DLP to Tusla as appropriate. Staff and volunteers are given a briefing on child safeguarding procedures and Children First principles. All child-related activities will be appropriately supervised by trained and vetted adults.
Reporting Procedure:
When a child protection concern arises, it is reported to the DLP. The DLP will assess the concern and, where necessary, make a formal report to Tusla using the Child Protection and Welfare Report Form. All concerns are documented and stored confidentially in accordance with data protection law.
