Follow our team as we prepare, travel, and serve alongside Praying Pelican Missions in Chicago, Illinois this July!

Day 6

7/15/2021

Updating from a Metro Train, from downtown to our stop at Harvey. What a day! We served the kiddos again this morning by running our 3rd chapel, skit and all.

We spent the afternoon in downtown Chicago. It felt like we walked about two marathons but we packed in the experience! We ate Chicago dogs, Chicago deep dish, and Justin promised ice cream…but failed to deliver due to a rush to the Metro to make the 10:30pm train.

Still, with Christ, we are never off duty. We gave dignity to a handful of homeless people offering them power bars, asking their name and story, and how we could pray for them. Our hosts were floored by how our C3 Students stepped up.

Headed back to Little Rock Friday with full and grateful hearts!

Day 5

7/14/2021

It’s the epic tale of "Davis and Gordiath" - complete with King "Saulvia".

Davis, Gordon, and Sylvia are troopers for executing Carson and Elizabeth’s masterpiece skit. The gospel went forth today through acting, humor, and a little effort to get outside our comfort zones! (see photo)

We are homebound tomorrow! Keep praying for our short-term missionaries! We see in so many ways how God has gone before us.

Please pray specifically for our team’s emotional state as we say farewell to the kiddos we’ve been serving and loving. As we return tomorrow, also pray for their hearts: (1) It's sad to understand that this team has grown so close but…as we re-enter normalcy, we won’t be as close. It’s just the reality. So pray that they process well their sorrow, tuck away incredible memories, AND take strides to deepen their friendships at home, as there are no greater joys than deep friendships! (2) Pray their short-term spiritual “high” will translate to long-term devotion to the Word, to the local church, and to denying self, as the months and years unfold. God can do that. He must!

Day 4

7/13/2021

This point in the week is always the “grind” day. The honeymoon feeling is gone. The end is still far away, so there’s no “returning home spiritual high” yet. This is the day that tests the teams - right in the swampy middle of the trip.
