Welcome to Checking Rituals ("the App"). These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Checking Rituals mobile application developed and maintained by its developers ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Description of the App

Checking Rituals is a location-based checklist application for iOS. It allows you to create checklists ("Rituals") tied to specific geographic locations. When you leave a Ritual's location, the App can send you a reminder notification and automatically reset your checklist items upon your return. The App uses background location tracking, local notifications, and on-device data storage to provide this functionality.

2. Limitation of Liability & Disclaimer of Warranties

2.1. The App is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

2.2. The App is a convenience tool designed to help you remember routine tasks. It is not a safety, security, or emergency system. The developers are not responsible for any loss, damage, injury, or harm — including but not limited to break-ins, fires, flooding, theft, property damage, or personal injury — that may result from your reliance on the App, from the App failing to deliver a notification, or from any checklist item being overlooked.

2.3. You acknowledge and agree that no reminder application can guarantee the prevention of accidents, emergencies, or disasters. The ultimate responsibility for completing safety-critical tasks (such as locking doors, turning off appliances, or activating alarm systems) rests solely with you.

2.4. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App.

3. GPS Accuracy & Technical Limitations

3.1. The App relies on GPS and other location services provided by your device and Apple's CoreLocation framework. Location data may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable due to factors beyond our control, including but not limited to: weak GPS signal, indoor environments, urban canyons (tall buildings), atmospheric conditions, device hardware limitations, and iOS system behavior.

3.2. The App may occasionally produce false positives (triggering a notification when you have not actually left a location) or false negatives (failing to trigger a notification when you have left). While we implement technical safeguards such as distance thresholds, hysteresis zones, and confirmation delays to minimize these errors, we cannot guarantee perfect accuracy.

3.3. Background location tracking depends on iOS system resources and permissions. Apple's operating system may throttle, delay, or suspend background location updates at its discretion (for example, to preserve battery life). We are not responsible for any failure of the App to function as expected due to operating system behavior.

3.4. You acknowledge that the App may not work correctly in all environments and that technical malfunctions, software bugs, or device incompatibilities may cause the App to behave unexpectedly.

4. Prohibited Uses

4.1. You agree not to use the App for any unlawful, illegal, or unauthorized purpose. This includes, but is not limited to, using the App in connection with criminal activity, stalking, harassment, surveillance of others without their consent, or any activity that violates applicable local, state, national, or international law.

4.2. You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.

4.3. You agree not to modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the App without our prior written consent.

4.4. You agree not to use the App in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the App or interfere with any other party's use of the App.
