Project Intro

This is a brief Intro of this project.

In an effort to enhance the user experience and increase engagement, I embarked on the ChatGPT iOS app redesign project. The primary objective was to create a more intuitive and visually appealing interface that addresses existing usability issues and introduces new, user-friendly features.

Through comprehensive research, including user interviews, surveys, and competitive analysis, I identified key pain points such as cluttered navigation, lack of personalization options, and inefficient file management. Armed with these insights, I set out to transform the app's UI.

The redesign focused on several core areas:

• A new sidebar with an improved profile section for better navigation.
• A Library feature for more efficient file management.
• A comprehensive options menu within chats for quick access to essential actions.
• Theme customization to allow users to personalize their chat experience.

Throughout the project, iterative feedback and review sessions were essential, ensuring that each design decision was aligned with user needs and preferences. The result is a sleek, user-centric interface that not only simplifies interaction but also enriches the overall user experience.

UI Design

1/ Project Background

The ChatGPT iOS app redesign project was initiated to enhance user engagement and improve overall usability. The primary goal was to create an intuitive and visually appealing interface that elevates the user experience, keeping them engaged and satisfied.

2/ Problem Definition

The existing ChatGPT iOS app had several usability issues such as cluttered navigation, lack of personalization options, and inefficient file management. These problems often resulted in user frustration and disengagement.

3/ Research

A comprehensive research phase was undertaken, including user interviews, surveys, and competitive analysis. The findings highlighted the need for a streamlined navigation system, improved file organization, and more customization options.

4/ Ideation

During the ideation phase, several brainstorming sessions were conducted, resulting in the creation of wireframes and mockups. The focus was on enhancing usability and introducing features like a new sidebar, improved profile section, Library for file management, and customizable chat themes.

5/ Concept Design

Home Screen

Description: The Home Screen's design was retained as it is, ensuring consistency and familiarity for users.
User Benefit: Preserving the existing design helped maintain user comfort and usability.
Design Choices: Retaining the Home Screen design allowed us to focus on enhancing other aspects of the app while keeping the core interface users are accustomed to.

Side Bar Chats Selected

Description: The sidebar now includes a profile section at the top with a profile picture, username, and a status indicator for upgrades. Users can easily view their recent conversations with timestamps.
User Benefit: Simplifies navigation and provides quick access to recent chats.
Design Choices: Minimalist design with clear icons and a structured list format.
