Introduction

The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) is the governing body in charge of providing electricity for citizens within Nigeria. PHCN introduced the pre-paid meter in the year 2006 to aid revenue collection and abolish meter reading and establish easy billing. Recently, citizens pay their electricity bills by finding the nearest PHCN office. This task seems tedious to them hence PHCN has requested that I design a product that can help solve such problems. PayLite is a solution-focused app that eases electrical bill payment within Nigeria. PayLite has a target Audience of users within the ages 18–70 years.

Brainstorming

I spent a few days interviewing 3 different users and how they utilize their units. Below are their profiles, PHCN bill payment type, age and comments:

Solution Features

  1. Users get to sign up/sign in to access their electrical payment information
  2. Users get to view their current electricity unit
  3. Users can pay or top-up units via the application with the use of an e-Wallet
  4. Users can top-up their e-Wallets via PayPal, GetBarter (built by Flutterwave) and VISA/MasterCard.
  5. Users can schedule e-Wallet or unit top-up duration.
  6. Users can request a new pre-paid meter based on their requirements. (Some users can also view various pre-paid meters registered by them)
  7. Had to ensure the app is easy for users to learn and understand
