Overview

This project explores a small but meaningful UX redesign focused on improving accessibility and usability for large-screen smartphones. I redesigned the placement of the AI assistant shortcut (Grok) to make it easier to reach with one hand while keeping the interface clean and intuitive.

Problem Statement

Modern smartphones are getting larger, but many apps still place important features in hard‑to‑reach areas. In the current layout, the Grok shortcut was located in the bottom navigation bar.

Issues identified:

User frustration often comes from small friction points like these.

Research & Observations

I analyzed common mobile interaction patterns and found:

  1. Most users hold phones with one hand
  2. Right-handed users prefer right-thumb accessible zones
  3. Floating action buttons are commonly used for quick actions
  4. Bottom navigation should be reserved for primary navigation only

Key insight:

Small layout changes can significantly improve usability without redesigning the whole app.

Design Goal

Improve accessibility and usability of the AI assistant feature while maintaining visual simplicity and navigation clarity.
