The origins of Carrow House Creatives CIC sit within the wider context of Norwich Unity Hub and its move into Carrow House.
As part of that move, there was an idea that creatives could benefit from shared studio space within the building. However, as Norwich Unity Hub is only able to lease space to organisations rather than individuals, there was no mechanism for individuals to access that space.
An initial open day was held for creatives to view the space and explore the idea. Those interested stayed for further discussion about what would be needed.
From this, a core group formed — made up of creative individuals from a wide range of practices. While the disciplines were different, there were also many shared experiences and needs.
The group first came together in November ’24. A new CIC was formed by the end of December ’24, creating a structure through which individuals could access space.
The organisation initially began with seven founding members and now has five Directors.
Forming the CIC and developing the space required significant work. This included learning how to work together as a group, navigating different perspectives and approaches, and addressing practical challenges in setting up the studios within the constraints of the building.
Studio holders began moving into the space from June ’25.
Within a relatively short timeframe, the group established a new CIC, developed a shared studio environment, and enabled creatives to move into the space. Given what was involved, this is considered to have been a significant achievement.

Carrow House Creatives is at an early but active stage of development.
The organisation has been established and delivered at pace, with Level 5 studios now operational and supporting a growing community of creatives.
At present:
This has enabled the organisation to reach its current position, but it places pressure on capacity and limits the ability to plan and develop strategically.
The current model is therefore functional but not sustainable without further development.
