At Carrick Knowe Primary, our Parent Council helps make amazing things happen — from funding activities and resources to building a strong, friendly school community.
Everyone’s welcome, and you don’t need any experience — just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved!
Last year we raised almost £8000 which went towards paying for school equipment, playground games, school trips and football strips.
We have even committed a whopping £1000 a year to pay for the bus to take P7 to camp (and back again!). And not just for this year, but EVERY YEAR. This helps bring the cost of the camp down for the whole school and for parents.
We organise three events a year, plus the much awaited and epic Christmas Fair, and help support the school on all sorts of things.
We like to think we’re the voice of all parents, but also the report back to parents with news and updates from the school.
You can find out more about us on the school website here.
At the end of this school year, a few long-standing members of the parent council are stepping down. We need to fill these roles to continue supporting the school, putting on events, and raising funds.
Over the coming few weeks, we’re going to be asking all parents if they would consider stepping into any of these roles. There’s plenty of time to think it through, and a couple more meetings next term for you to come along and see if it’s for you.

Simply put, without these posts, it means
❌ no discos
❌ no Christmas Fair
❌ no extra money for the school
‼️ parents having to spend more on things like P7 camp.
(there, that’s the guilt trip bit over. I know it’s not nice to hear, but it’s important!).
