About us

MetaMap helps companies scale P2P transactions in order to move the entire service economy online.

We’re living at the dawn of a borderless world, one in which superficial features like where you’re from or how wealthy your family is don’t matter. There are more relevant human features, and we’re on a mission to map them all. Everyone should claim their data to get access to services that remain out of reach, and emerging markets are where this fight is most relevant.

Most people don't have access to critical opportunities, from financial services to sharing assets in P2P marketplaces, and even good employment opportunities. That’s because they are still measured using archaic maps like FICO which is blind to the vast majority of the population.

At MetaMap, our work is focused on addressing this gap by building a data protocol that gives you control over your personal data you will need in order to get access to services. Data ownership comes from many sources: legal ID data, financial and transactional data, employment data, or even health data. They all function like keys unlocking services, and we’re committed to helping people claim them all.

With MetaMap, anonymous strangers become trustworthy users.

Anonymity online erodes trust between companies and their users. It leads to online fraud for businesses and a frustrating user experience for consumers. Contrary to popular belief, most online users are good actors that are perceived as risky because their personal data is fragmented across many platforms and remains hard to access. This makes it difficult for companies to understand their users' full profiles. Our APIs are ways for businesses to better understand their customers, and users to better control data they share.

With MetaMap, users can easily choose what data they share, and how it's used.

Our users can access, share and own their data. They have full agency over what data they share, and who they share their data with. At the sign-up stage for online businesses, end-users can share pieces of their legal identity, elements of their financial data, their residency, and many other aspects of their identity and reputation.

MetaMap is a personal data one-stop-shop.

We build a powerful identity infrastructure by unifying fragmented and often overlooked data from local databases, such as tax services, government-citizen voting databases, and credit scores. We make sure the businesses that use MetaMap are automatically compliant wherever they expand their service to. We want to make interactions between strangers online, trustworthy and effortless.

With MetaMap, building a lending company in Africa, a car-sharing startup in Poland, or a safer dating app in Brazil is as easy as selling socks on Shopify. We provide service economy companies with the identity tools they need to facilitate high-trust interactions. Our goal is to solve all identity, fraud, and safety issues for online services everywhere.

The likes of Paypal, Stripe, and Shopify unlocked the potential of millions of e-commerce merchants. Now, our trust tools will do the same for millions of trust-service providers — lowering the barriers for them to start and scale. With our tools, trust-service builders can focus on their core business without having to build an entire identity infrastructure stack in-house.
