When I arrived at Careerbuilder in 2014 the internal tools for our agents were looking...kinda legacy, if you know what I mean. Each use case had resulted in a one-off request built out by developers by adding additional tabs to a user dashboard. We had functionality like "Search by zip code" living on its own tab. It looked like a lot of internal software at the time.
The main thing we heard from our developer team is that they didn't have time to implement UI improvements, and things were getting out of hand, but without a lot of front-end time or resources, Axiom would continue to be an ever expanding dashboard of disjointed tabs.
I conceptualized, built, and trained along with one other designer until Axiom felt friendly and fast both to use and to build.
