I have always loved caring for people but over the years the bureaucracy has made me enjoy my work less and less. I wish they would just let me do what I’m good at.
Name: Addy Legemaate
Age: 62
Education: Nursing MBO 2
Bio
Addy has been working as a freelance care worker for over 10 years. During the early years of her career, she worked as an administrative assistant and dentist assistant. As a dentist assistant, she discovered how much she likes to care for people and from this emerged a wish to help patients for longer periods of time, and not just with their teeth.
In 2011, Addy completed a 1-year diploma. For the first year after her new education, she worked at a home health organisation as part of their salaried staff. Once Addy got more confident in her nursing abilities, she decided to go freelance.
Addy still loves what she does and is well equipped to deal with everything that a freelancer needs to take care of, although she wishes it would all be made easier for her.
