Case Study: The Incomplete Report

XP Marissa is wrapping up a weekly deliverable for her client, Aisha: a performance summary of the team’s open projects. She finishes quickly and shares the draft via email:

Subject: Weekly Project Summary Hi Aisha, here’s the recap for this week. Let me know if you need edits.

When Aisha opens it, she notices several problems:

• The report is written casually, even though it will be forwarded to senior leadership.
• The formatting is inconsistent (mixed fonts, uneven spacing, no clear headers).
• Several project statuses are incomplete or missing context.

Because of this, Aisha spends extra time rewriting and polishing before sharing with leadership. She later tells Marissa this: “If I have to fix the report every week, it defeats the purpose of delegating.”
