Basics:

Dulora’s calendar consists of four seasons: Aurora, Suntide, Duskhazel, and Starfall. Each season consists of 78 days, with the exception of Starfall having 86.

There are 5 days of the week: Allsday, Loraday, Celesday, Fyreday, and Veilday. There are 63 weeks in a year.

Rising, Passing, and Waning:

Each season has a Rising, Passing, and Waning period. The Rising period lasts 20 days, in which the season slowly reaches its peak in terms of weather. During the Passing, weather usually does not drastically change. It is during the Waning, the last 8 days of each season, where the climate has a chance to drastically change as the next season enters. This period is usually the most likely time for natural disasters to occur. Of course, this is heavily dependent on location and other factors, and is not guaranteed.

When referring to a specific period of any given season, you can simply say the name of the season followed by the period. For example, if you wish to refer to the first 20 days of Starfall, you could say “Starfall Rising”, or for the last 8 days of Duskhazel, “Duskhazel Waning”. Normally, a season followed by Passing, such as “Aurora Passing”, can be seen as very formal or useful in scientific contexts, as most would simply say “Aurora” in a casual conversation.

Astrology:

Each year and era is based on the lunar cycle of both moons. The larger moon in the sky has a cycle of 320 days, which is how the year came to be. The smaller moon has a much slower cycle, taking ten years to fully go from one New Moon to the next, which is where Dulora derived its timing for the Eras of Darkness and Light. Every ten years, both moons complete their cycle on the same night, symbolising the start of a new era. Each of the moons has a name, and an associated god (in most religions). Bhathyss (or “Bhath”), the larger of the two moons, named after the eldest dragon, is associated with Ebony. Ellica, named after an angel, is associated with Ivory.
