In previous simulations, I primarily used velocity, vorticity, and pressure fields for postprocessing and visual analysis. Recently, I explored two additional and powerful techniques for flow field visualization in COMSOL: the arrow plot and the streamline plot.
The notes below summarize key concepts, setup methods, and practical visualization tips for both approaches.
Definition: Arrow plots are a powerful tool in COMSOL Multiphysics for visualizing vector fields such as velocity fields, magnetic fields, temperature gradients, etc.
Purpose:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Arrow Line | Arrows along a one-dimensional line |
| Arrow Surface | Arrows on a 2D surface |
| Arrow Volume | Arrows within a 3D volume (most complex) |
