We’ve been using the BuyCoins API internally for a while now. It’s how we made Sendcash & getcards.
However, we’re very curious to see what the developer community can build and we’d very much like to help with that.
BuyCoins is giving out $1000 [in BTC] grants to support the development of open source client libraries for JavaScript & Python.
What you need to know:
- We’ll be accepting submissions for both languages starting from today, the 26th of January 2020 till Tuesday, 16th of February, 2020.
- We’ll be picking the best entry from each programming language.
- $1000 worth of BTC will be sent to the developers of both libraries.
- We’ll be adding the good ones as recommended third-party libraries to the official API documentation.
- Team work is encouraged! We think that diversity of thought process is the way to build truly awesome things.
How we’ll pick the libraries to grant:
We know libraries can always be improved and as such, there’s no such thing as “finished” work. However, here are some things we plan to look out for:
- Well thought out API design. Everybody loves a client library that’s easy to use, extend and document.
- Good documentation. This doesn’t necessarily mean “plenty” documentation. As long as it’s easy to read & understand, we’re good to go!
- Thorough testing.
- Feature parity with the official API isn’t a requirement. It should at least do most of the important things - whatever you decide those to be.
