BoxScroll values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
BoxScroll is a digital wellbeing application designed to help users convert physical exercise into screen time for other applications. For this core functionality to operate correctly, our application requires access to certain sensitive permissions on your device.
1. Camera Usage and Motion Recognition
BoxScroll requires access to your device's Camera.
- What it is used for: The camera is used exclusively in real-time to capture your physical movements (such as boxing punches) through pose detection technology (ML Kit). This movement count is the basis for "unlocking" your screen time.
- Storage and Sharing: The images captured by the camera are NOT recorded, are NOT saved in your device's storage, and are NOT sent to our servers or to any third parties. All computer vision processing occurs locally (offline) on your own device.
2. Accessibility API Usage (AccessibilityService)
BoxScroll requires the use of the Android Accessibility API (AccessibilityService API).
- What it is used for: This permission is strictly necessary so the application can detect the exact moment you try to open an app you have configured to be "blocked." When the opening of a target app is detected, BoxScroll uses this permission to overlay the exercise screen.
- Storage and Sharing: Our use of the Accessibility API is extremely limited. We do NOT use the API to read the contents of your screen, nor do we monitor typed text, passwords, or messages. No data viewed through this API is stored or transmitted to external servers.
3. App Monitoring and Installed Packages
In order for you to choose which applications you wish to block, BoxScroll requests permissions to:
- Query all packages (
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES): Used solely to list the installed applications on your device in the "Settings" screen, allowing you to choose your block targets.
- Usage Statistics (
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Used to calculate the exact time you have spent using the unblocked applications, deducting it from the "time bank" you have earned through exercise.
- The list of applications installed on your device is never sent outside your device.
4. Screen Overlay (System Alert Window)
The application requires the "Display over other apps" permission to be able to show the blocking window and the boxing workout screen on top of social or entertainment apps when your screen time runs out.
5. Third-Party Services and Subscriptions
