The best and greenest way to visit New Oban is on the New Oban Express — our high-speed train makes the journey from London in an average of one hour and fifty-three minutes. That’s long enough to enjoy a coffee or a freshly squeezed orange juice from our buffet car, and marvel at the changing scenery as you’re transported to another world. You’ll leave the sprawl of London and travel up the Electric Spine of England — and before you know it you’ll be through the midlands to the breathtaking north-east coast. There’s no time for sightseeing, because soon you’ll be heading west from Edinburgh across Scotland — and towards that first breathtaking view of the West Highlands. And if you're hungry on route, we know you'll find something delicious to get your teeth into in our range of onboard restaurants and cafes.

But New Oban’s not just for the London set. If you’re coming from closer to home, the branch line from Fort William runs every thirty minutes during peak times, and while our durable little local trains might not have all the features of our flagship express, they’ll bring you to us in safety and comfort, with the added advantage of enjoying the local scenery at a gentler pace.

We’re proud of our record on sustainability, and we’re happy to report that not only are our electric trains emission-free at the point of use, but are responsible for 50% less carbon per passenger mile than a standard electric train. We topped the list in this year’s Traction Energy Metrics Report from the Rail Standards and Safety Board, but we’re not going to get complacent. There’s always room for improvement, and we won’t rest until we’ve become the first carbon negative UK rail provider.
