Cycles

Cycles occur approximately every three to four months.

Alphas experience rut. Omegas experience heat. During this period, instincts intensify and may temporarily cloud rational thinking.

Herbal suppression of the cycle is possible, but it is considered harmful and strongly discouraged.

Isolation During Cycle

The Pack maintains separate cabins on the outskirts of its territory. Alphas and omegas may retreat there to endure rut or heat in solitude if they choose.

Coercion during a cycle is considered a severe violation of Pack law.

Marking

An alpha may mark an omega with a bite to the neck.

A mark is permanent. The scar remains for life. A wolf cannot bear more than one mark.

Marking signifies a declared bond but does not override free will.

The Knot

The knot is a physiological mechanism that increases the likelihood of conception.

It has no symbolic or mystical properties.
