How to Use This Resource

This includes 9 copy/paste templates for typical investor outreach. Customize the bracketed sections for your situation.

TEMPLATE 1: Warm Intro Request

Use when: Asking a mutual connection to introduce you to an investor

Subject: Quick intro request - [Investor Name] at [Fund]

Hi [Name],

Hope you're doing well!

I'm currently raising our [seed/Series A] and identified [Fund Name] as a close thesis fit. I saw that you're connected with [Investor Name].

If this is a close connection, would you feel comfortable making a short intro? If so, I've drafted a short blurb below you can forward if it's easier.

If not, no problem at all. Thank you in advance!

[Your name]

Forwardable blurb:

[Investor Name] — wanted to introduce you to [Your Name], founder of [Company]. They're building [one sentence on what you do] and are currently raising their [round stage]. Given [Fund Name]'s focus on [specific thesis area], thought there might be alignment. I'll let [Your Name] take it from here if you're open to connecting.

TEMPLATE 2: Forwardable Blurb (Standalone)

Use when: Your connector asks "what should I say?" - send them this

[Investor Name] - wanted to introduce you to [Your Name], founder/CEO of [Company].

[Company] is [one sentence: what you do + why it matters]. They're currently raising a [round stage] to [primary use of funds].

Given [Fund]'s investments in [relevant portfolio company or thesis area], thought this could be a fit. Happy to let [Your Name] take it from here if you're open to a quick intro.

TEMPLATE 3: Cold Outreach to Portfolio Founder (Email)

Use when: Reaching out to a founder whose investor you want to meet

Subject: Fellow founder - quick question about [Fund Name]
