I discovered two new favorite biking trails in Miami, one in Key Biscayne and another going from Bayfront through to Venetian avenue and into Lincoln road. While a lot of Miami suburbia isn't great for biking, these two stretches are close to the water, have fantastic biking path, and have plenty of nature in nearby - I find myself coming back to them again and again.
Beautiful, and preciously flat Venetian Causeway. Just to the south of it is the far steeper MacArthur Causeway.
I want to focus on the Key Biscayne route. When I first found this trip, I started the ride late on a cool and sunny Florida afternoon. The first portion of the journey is one I elected to pass up, up and down the steep William M Powell bridge. I admire the other folks who brave this portion, but doing this without warming-up sounds sadistic to me.

The causeway itself features Miami Seaquarium and MAST Academy and, interestingly, the dilapidated and abandoned Miami Marine Stadium. I was only half-aware this stadium existed before though I've definitely seen this location be used to film Miami-based TV series Burn Notice. It was incredibly fun to stumble upon it during this trip. Certainly, it was a welcomed surprise.
I traveled all the way through to the southern most point of the Key Biscayne township, which, given the time of day was significantly more packed with vehicle traffic than I anticipated. Next time, I certainly want to go further down, since it seems fairly straight forward to reach Cape Florida or No Name Harbor (what a name).
On my way back I noticed a number of side trials, one of which, I believe leads to the a Fossilized Reef View. There's a lot of room for exploration here.
If you have any local trails you love, please feel free to share, I'd love to visit them!
