Overview

Bento is an embedded customer onboarding guide that allows non-engineers to build and collaborate with end-users. Here's an example of what Bento might look like in-app.

This is an example of a "full page" view. Bento is also shown as a sidebar, so guidance and collaboration follows a user as they navigate different pages. See here.

The purpose of this doc is to give you high level orientation around the installation process. Ready? Let's go! 🚀

1. Installation (~15 min)

When we are ready to kick off, Bento will share the unique appid with you.

If you want to control when and how Bento is initialized, load the script without setting window.bentoSettings. Then, call Bento.identify(window.bentoSettings) && Bento.initialize(window.bentoSettings manually after bentoSettings is initialized.

2. Decide how Bento shows up in-app (~15-45 min)

The embeddable Bento widgets are web components that can be placed anywhere in your DOM. The JS snippet installed above activates these tags and renders the Bento widgets.

⚠️ If the JS snippet is not run, or if your user does not have an active guide launched in Bento, the web components will not do anything nor appear to the end usr.

3. Passing Bento relevant data for targeting (it depends...)
