At Starred we believe in taking care of our employees.

Financial benefits

Every employee gets the opportunity to buy shares. This is an important one for us - we encourage a sense of ownership for what you do at Starred, so you should also be a financial owner.

With the New Star Referral Bonus you're rewarded with €1000 for sourcing/referring on Starred's behalf when you're not the hiring manager.

Flexible working

Our goal is to be a very flexible employer, but we can only be that if flexibility goes both ways. We are a startup, trying to break through the resistance so we also need to feel the urgency and be ‘uncomfortably excited’ about the road ahead. Again, this is not to control people but to make sure we agree on some ‘ground rules’ to make sure we can embrace flexibility as much as possible and be highly successful:

  1. We’ve agreed on a minimum of 8 working hours per day. This excludes lunchbreaks, cigarettes, ping pong, hairdressers, going for a walk, etc. Want to leave early? Start early. Not a morning person and rather start late? Work until late. We don’t calculate this on a ‘day to day basis’, but in general hitting 8 hours of effective work is the bare minimum.
  2. We are a fast-growing company and want to break through the resistance, therefore we need people that are willing to go the extra mile. We believe in strong work ethics and therefore celebrate hard work
  3. We will focus on output both with hitting daily targets and stretching ourselves further with OKRs
  4. We ‘Work Smarter’ and always focus on high productivity. This means we only accept meetings with a clear agenda, we plan our day and we avoid distractions (and for sure kill most communication notifications)
  5. We feel ‘uncomfortably excited’ all the time. If we feel underwhelmed, we discuss this with each other because this is not in our and Starred’s best interest. Bore-outs are real.
  6. We can always order food when staying a bit longer. We don’t expect people to work constant all-nighters, but it’s fascinating what we can achieve together by staying a bit longer every now and then (without new emails and slack messages popping up)
  7. We understand our business requires more flexibility with our ‘global approach’. I.e. our focus on the US means more late hours for our Sales & CHM teams and therefore a shift in daily routines. Starred employees have the option to work remotely.
  8. We are in favor of working remotely when you need deep concentration mode, when you need to finish something or when it’s actually ‘Work Smarter’ because i.e. you have a doctor’s appointment. We do believe collaboration happens in the office and it is important to feed off each other’s positive energy to move forward We are al part of Starred and are, therefore ‘Building Together’ to be successful. We understand we’re all part of a whole.
  9. One of the greatest things about Starred is the diversity of backgrounds our people have. Part and parcel of hiring folks from all around the world is that they can have family and friends back home. That's why we allow our expats a month of remote working from their home country every year.
  10. As part of this flexibility towards time off- we set aside two days annually for every employees as Give first days. You can spend them volunteering at any non-profit or cause you see fit.

Flexible approach on holidays

Last year we’ve implemented a lot, much of it related to a more flexible way of working. We’ve also decided we would give people the opportunity to take unlimited holidays. Although this sounded great, we’ve noticed that it’s also confusing and quite some people would rather have some more clarity around this topic:
