Here are four tips, as you navigate the text and the course.

#1 — Don't do things in order.

What we teach is hard to learn, so it's vital that you learn it the way that's easiest for you.

For instance: Some do better by reading the texts before the exercises; others, by reading the texts later, to provide labels for things they've already begun to intuit. Some handle solo practice well; others should do most of their learning in groups. Some need the relevance of everything to their work to be clear up front; others are happier to explore and find relevance later.

Your guide at The School for Social Design will try to understand how you work, and restructure the course for you.

#2 — Don't try to get good at everything. Do learn what good looks like.

For each of the three quests, you'll need the help of other students, alumni, and teachers. Success with a quest means you can lead the group to produce a high quality (values articulate, values-aligned, etc) outcome. This doesn't mean you could've done it by yourself! But it does mean you know what quality looks like.

So as you do the exercises, focus as much on recognizing success as on improving your own skills.
