This course provides the instruction and hands-on experience to turn a novice into a confident backyard beekeeper. Topics include hive management; bee biology; recognizing and treating common diseases and predators; and legal requirements.
After completing the course successfully, participants are eligible to receive a starter bee colony when available at no additional cost. Frames and other hive equipment not included.
The first three classes will meet virtually on three consecutive Tuesday evenings, February 9, 16, and 23, 7-9pm. Information for the course including the zoom link for the course can be found here.
Participants also receive a two hour in-person mentoring session working in hives with an experienced beekeeper. The session will abide by safe procedures requiring face masks. Dates TBD. You will need your own beekeeping suit, gloves, hive tool, and smoker.
