Beethoven Box: Becoming Beethoven
I chose Beethoven as a figure in The Psychology of Stoked because he represents so many of the aspects and elements of a dramatic life. Not clear that he lived an ideal or Stoke life by any means. In fact, not sure whether or not he would be very excited with Nietzsche’s demon.
But Beethoven was a historical figure, an artist who embodied the notion of becoming.
He was never static.
His music was always challenging the status quo. It was never not avant-garde, and even as his music became popular his new music would challenge his old music and his new artistic style was always pushing and becoming. He was never not becoming.
