Mentor Guidelines

Apply to be a mentor for the 2022 competition here! We will be reviewing mentor applications on a rolling basis until our team-mentor matching process in mid-February 2022.

Who is eligible to mentor?

Researchers or industry professionals who are currently or have previously worked in AI fields. Current Bachelors and Masters students are not allowed to mentor (sorry!).

What are the expectations for a mentor?

Mentors are a one-on-one resource for teams to use throughout the duration of the competition. The time commitment is pretty flexible, and we try to match mentors to teams whose projects and needs are best aligned with mentor preferences. Please indicate your preferences in the application for which project stage you can best accommodate.

Just an idea

Work in progress

All mentors are expected to provide feedback about the team's deliverables (project writeup, presentation, etc.) prior to each round of the competition. Although it is not required, mentors are more than welcome to come to the Final Demo Day in April 2022!

How are mentors matched with projects?

We will have a mentor-team virtual mixer where teams can meet all mentors and have an opportunity to discuss projects. We will provide a list of the submitted projects who have requested a mentor to all mentors and then allow teams as well as mentors to provide their top preferences. Final matchings will be released in the middle of February 2022.
