Purpose

(Why we exist.)

BeamJobs exists to help job seekers navigate the often frustrating, ambiguous process of finding and landing a new job throughout each step of the search.

Vision

(What our future looks like.)

BeamJobs will be the one-stop shop for profession-specific guidance to navigate each step of the job search. We aim to instill job seekers with confidence, remove uncertainty, and make the process a bit less soul-draining.

Mission

(What we’re here for and how we’ll create that future.)

We’re here to create practical tools and content that make the process of landing a new job seamless and unambiguous. These resources will be specifically catered to job seekers depending on their profession and the stage of their career.

Values

(How we conduct ourselves in support and pursuit of our mission, vision, and purpose.)

  1. Accountability & growth: Success is dependent on each team member working toward goals within their expertise. We expect to provide deep support for each other without creating dependence. It’s much better to try something yourself and solicit feedback than to ask someone for the answer. This, we believe, is how each of us can achieve the necessary growth required to meaningfully empower job seekers. Through it all, we are quick to give encouragement and feedback.
  2. No shame in being wrong: Everyone on the team expects that we learn from our mistakes, but we shouldn’t be afraid to make them in the first place. We expect accountability without finger-pointing. Learning and embracing new challenges come with the territory of trying to change a system.
  3. No fluff: We aim to be practical. The job search process is littered with corporate-speak and “unwritten rules” that only serve to create barriers to entry and add needless stress to an already stressful process. We cut through the clutter with practical, specific tools and advice.
  4. Candidate first: There is a massive power imbalance between companies that are hiring and job seekers applying to open roles. From ghosting to outlandish expectations to endless interviews, companies often neglect the fact that job seekers see their success in finding a new job as a reflection of their self-worth. We understand this deeply, and we strive to redistribute some of this power back to job seekers by always keeping them top of mind.
  5. Life > work: Fundamentally, we believe everyone does their best work when work fits around their life, not the other way around. We prefer asynchronous communication as opposed to “always-on” communication channels (so email instead of Slack). “Rise and grind” is a dehumanizing way to look at work, so we strive to create a flexible environment that people enjoy being in. We empower and trust our team to be accountable to themselves and each other and, in doing so, we can create a system that allows our team to create a work schedule that works for them.
