Event: SF Hacks 2021

Timeline: March 2021 (36 hours)

Teammates: Kevin Chiang, Lambert Liu, Kirk Wong, Tim Pham

Role: UX/UI Design

Problem:

Building and maintaining relationships is difficult during a pandemic. It can be hard to remember details about someone you interact with while living in a digital era. Our team wanted to identify ways to help people connect on a more personal level.

Solution:

Beam is an app that helps you build and maintain meaningful relationships with your friends, family, and colleagues. It allows you to track important details about your contacts and provides recommended sharable content (articles, playlists, news, etc) based on their contact's profile.

Beam was a submission for the SF Hacks 2021 hackathon. We built our project within a 36 hour deadline and won Best Mobile Hack and Best Usage of Google Cloud Platform. I contributed as a UX/UI designer through user research, ideation, and high-fidelity mockups.

How does it work?

  1. Create a contact and add personal details like hobbies, interests, and favorite items
  2. Beam analyzes profiles to introduce a feed of smart sharing recommendations
