Lacking the right mood Physical exercise to pump you up Find parts of the process you do enjoy. Find beauty in the process. Learn to be ok with being a little uncomfortable. Add play to your tasks. Take yourself less seriously.
Lacking time Temporarily scratch the itch to pursue your passions/goals with a simpler, smaller project. Time blocking - and include rest. This helps cultivate prioritization skills, set boundaries, and build mindfulness of how much time you spend on tasks, . Start with a very short amount of time for the task. Slowly increase the time as you become more efficient.
Lacking energy Physical exercise to get your blood flowing Caffeine power naps (or “Nappucino,” as Jannae called it 😂). Drink caffeine right before napping. The caffeine will likely kick in 15 or 20 minutes later, when it’s time to wake up.
Lacking discipline Join a class or club. This provides a new environment and accountability to show up/deliver. Find an accountability buddy or group to support you and check in on your wellness in addition to your goals.
Distractions Meditate or sit in stillness for 5-10 minutes before your next task/responsibility to refocus your attention and clearly mark the transition. Adjust your environment for the new task (like lighting a candle or putting on a playlist) to get you in the zone. Pomodoro method. Over time, it trains you to focus for a certain amount of time (like the classic 20 minutes).
Feeling overwhelmed Promise yourself to do just one necessary thing per day. Work smarter, not harder. Take time to create efficient systems, and approach problems with more playfulness than high stakes). Be forgiving with yourself. You may feel pressure from other people, but try not to worry about evaluating yourself.
Inspiration is either missing or inconsistent Set aside time for your “genius” to visit you, whether it comes or not. Produce something small anyway. The more often you invite your genius, the more often it will gift you with inspiration.
