Backgrounds & Scene Presets

The module provides a background location system and a scene preset system. Locations let you organize background images into named places with multiple variants. Scene presets capture the entire stage state (background, characters, camera) so you can restore it instantly.

Background Locations

Background locations are stored as a world-level setting. Each location represents a named place (e.g., "Tavern", "Forest Road") and contains one or more image variants (e.g., "Day", "Night", "Raining").

Opening the Background Manager

Open the Background Config from the Manage button in the background picker, or from the Character Dock's image icon during a live session. The window opens at 820x600.

Creating a Location

  1. Click Add Location. A new entry appears in the left panel.
  2. Double-click the location name to rename it.
  3. The location is automatically selected.

Adding Variants

With a location selected, click Add Variant. The File Picker opens and accepts both images and videos.

Each variant has:

Field Description
Label Display name (defaults to file name, double-click to rename)
Image The background image file
Video An optional video overlay (WebM, MP4, OGG, M4V)

To add a video to an existing image variant, click the video icon on the variant thumbnail. To remove a video, click the same icon again.

Click a variant thumbnail to preview it and access its transition settings.

Per-Variant Transitions

Each variant can override the default transition for when it appears or disappears. Select a variant to open the transition panel below the preview.

Phase Options
OUT (leaving this background) Default, None, Fade, Image, Video
IN (entering this background) Default, None, Fade, Image, Video

When set to "Default", the variant uses the world default transition. "Image" and "Video" options require selecting a source file (the transition wipe/animation asset).
