Prairy - Backend Engineer (Part-time)
Sharing on social media sucks. You have to build a following first and unless you stared in a reality tv show you’re going to average 61 followers on sites like Twitter (source).
On Prairy, you can go viral in your city without having a single follower.
Prairy is a Reddit meets Nextdoor app where you can share jokes, news, projects, and ideas with your city. Things you share will be seen by more people based on how many votes you get not by how many followers you have. With the removal of followers and focus on cities, Prairy gives a voice to those typically unheard all while letting us stay connected with what’s happening around us.
We've been closed testing in Chicago and are getting 100 beta requests per week. We’re looking for an additional engineer to help us set up new technologies within the app and transition from alpha to beta. Prairy is backed by the University of Chicago's Polsky Exchange & IHCC's LatinX Incubator.
We're a scrappy, bootstrapped startup with a big mission. So we hope to find someone motivated by the vision and technology they get to work with. This is a part-time paid gig until we raise our first round. Equity grants are available.
