The Role:

Beeper is looking for a Backend Engineer to help in our mission to make it easier for people to communicate.

We maintain a wide variety of services in order to run our chat network. At its core, Beeper is a matrix server, and we deploy open source software at scale to run that service. In addition, we develop and maintain a set of open source "bridges" that connect our service to other chat services. As a backend developer, you'll be helping build and scale these services as we make Beeper available to a massive number of users.

At Beeper You Will:

• Work on a mix of proprietary (our internal services) and open source (our bridges, existing matrix codebases)
• Design and build out new functionality
• Analyze the reliability and performance of our services and scale them to massive scales

What We're Looking For:

• Someone who's used to building services in multiple languages (we use Typescript/Node, Python, Go, Java, Rust...) and is excited to learn new things
• A skilled communicator who is comfortable working asynchrously and remotely
• Someone who's pragmatic and organized, who understands that there's a lot of things we could be working on but we should focus on what's important to users
