Job Description Backend - “Company π”
Our client “Company π” powers thousands of businesses everyday helping them receive funds from their customers and cares deeply about making this as seamless as possible for them. Going down for even 5 minutes could mean losses in millions for our customers and can jeopardize the very foundations of the businesses that depend on us we take reliability very seriously. As an engineer on the backend team, you’ll contribute to the success of “Company π” and our merchants by building the services which their businesses depend on. They’’re scaling and would love to have you join them as we grow.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect products with maintainability, performance and reliability as core concerns.
- Contribute to or lead explorations for various engineering initiatives.
- Provide feedback to the backend engineering manager to help improve processes and output.
- Provide guidance during product development especially around software best practices.
- Provide leadership to junior backend engineers to help them grow and level-up.
- Contribute to ongoing product development initiatives as part of a cross-functional team.
Qualifications
- Proficient knowledge of one or more of Javascript/TypeScript , PHP or Java.
- Culture fit - our ideal candidate must be kind, able to communicate clearly, open to giving and receiving feedback and insist on high standards.
- Experience with automated testing (experience with TDD would be nice to have)
- Proficient knowledge of SQL
- Proficient knowledge working with RDBMS and NoSQL databases
- Experience designing (architecting) large software products (with a deep understanding of scaling for distributed systems)
- Ability to provide in-depth evaluation and analysis of unique complex technological issues (e.g. Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git Previous experience in the fintech space (nice to have)
- minimum of 6 years professional working experience as a Backend engineer.
