When I hear the words “Artificial Intelligence”, the first four things that come to mind are:
Devices/Services I use daily:
A time when I was surprised when using these would be when I was thinking about a video I had seen quite a while ago, and that video suddenly showing up on my feed. Quite spooky.
| Email Inbox | Not sure if this is exactly inbox, but the reply phrase suggestions (Thanks, [x time period], Yes, etc.) |
|---|---|
| Check Depositing | Handwriting recognition |
| Texting/Mobile Keyboards | Word suggestions |
| Netflix | Show recommendations |
| Google (search) | Autofill on search bar |
| Social Media | An algorithm controls what shows up in your feed |
| Automated Messages | Perhaps using AI in voice, or to compose a message, or both. |
What do we gain by having AI in our everyday lives?
We don’t have to do a lot of menial tasks by ourselves anymore, the AI can assist us in speeding up those processes.
What do we lose by having AI in our everyday lives?
Things like autofill or algorithms deprive us of simply thinking for ourselves. Social media becomes an extremely passive swipe, watch, swipe, watch, as the algorithm endlessly feeds you content to watch.
| Problem | I don’t know what to eat/cook! |
|---|---|
| How can AI Help? | Plan out a week’s, or day’s worth of meals |
| What Role Will Humans Have? | Guide the AI in planning the dishes out, if a suggestions/plans aren’t exactly a hit, let the AI know |
| Data Needed? | Eating habits, whether it be outside or at home |
| How To Responsibly Gather Data? | A flawed way: Human input to log what meals they’ve had at a certain day and time. If they don’t want to disclose then they don’t have to |
