Articles are words that define a noun as specific or unspecific.
There are three articles: a, an, the. [A,AN .. Indefinite articles , THE… Definite article ]
1. A ( 26 alphabets _ 5 vowels ( a,e,i,o,u) & 21 consonents ( b,c,d,… )
✅ Use ‘a’ before consonant sounds (not letters!).
- Examples:
- a book
- a car
- a teacher
- a university (‘u’ sounds like ‘you’ → consonant sound)
- Trick: If you can say “one” before the noun, use a.
- a pen → one pen
- a dog → one dog
2. An
✅ Use ‘an’ before vowel sounds (a, e, i, o, u).
- Examples:
- an apple
- an idea
- an honest man (‘h’ is silent → vowel sound ‘o’))
- an umbrella
- Trick: Listen to the sound, not just the letter.
- an hour → ‘h’ is silent
- an MBA → ‘M’ is pronounced ‘em’ → vowel sound

3. The = particular things
✅ Use ‘the’ for specific things or unique objects.
- Examples:
- the sun
- the moon
- the Taj Mahal
- the first prize
- the boy who helped me yesterday
Rules for using ‘the’:
- When something is unique → the earth, the sky
- When it is already mentioned → I saw a dog. The dog was very cute.
- When there is only one in that context → the president, the top student
