Love doesn’t keep receipts

You’ve heard of the Prodigal Son, but what if the real main character is the Father? This message dives into God’s love as unfathomable—not just for the wild child who runs away, but for the “good kid” who stays home, keeps the rules, and still feels empty. Whether you relate more to the partier or the perfectionist, this talk exposes the lie that you have to earn God’s love. It is finished. Come hear how a Father sprints toward both sons, tears up the scorecard, and invites you into a grace‑filled party you didn’t pay for.

Daily Devotions

Day 1 – The Father Who Runs Toward You

Main Thought:

God is not waiting to hit you; He’s running to hug you.

Key Verse:

“While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”

— Luke 15:20 (NIV)

In the story Jesus told, the younger son wasted everything. He left home, sinned, and ended up feeding pigs. When he decided to go back, he expected anger and punishment.

But the father did something shocking. He ran to his son. In that culture, older men didn’t run. It looked silly and shameful. But this father didn’t care. He just wanted his son back.

This is how God the Father loves you. Even when you are “a long way off,” He sees you. He moves first. He runs toward you. He hugs you with grace before you can clean yourself up.

We believe the Holy Spirit is here right now to make this love real to your heart. He doesn’t just tell you God loves you; He helps you feel and know it deep inside.

“God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

— Romans 5:5 (NIV)

Reflection Questions:

  1. When you mess up, how do you picture God’s face looking at you?
  2. Do you usually run from God or to God when you sin? Why?
