Once a year, we all come together for an in-person meetup. The meetup is typically structured as one day of workshops, presentations and planning and one day of fun, where an event will be planned to experience the city and get to know each other a little better.

These meetups are typically held around September or October each year, with the location and final dates determined by a majority vote mid-year. Any team member working at least 20h a week at the time can attend.

The first annual meetup was in Sydney, Australia in 2016. The second in Lisbon, Portugal and most recently in Athens, Greece. We are monitoring the current situation with COVID and will be looking at how we can execute a meetup (or similar) when it makes sense.

The Small Print

Float covers accommodation, flights and related travel-expenses. During the meetup, Float will also cover group dinners and optional scheduled events. Team members are welcome to invite partners or extend their stays on either side of the meetup at their own expense.

As an example, during the Portugal meetup, almost half of the team brought partners, and half extended their stay either before or after the event.

While not mandatory to attend, we encourage everyone to do their best to make it.
