Normocytic anaemia

For normocytic anaemia, look at the reticulocyte count. Correct for degree of anaemia: (Hct/45) × retic count. Then if polychromasia is present, divide by 2.

• ≥3% suggests marrow response.
• ≤2% suggests inadequate response.

Reduced retic count: "MAIL"
