Synopsis:
Modern education was built to produce people as factory workers. This system can not serve life today.
With the rise of AI, the shortage we face is no longer intelligence — it is wisdom and compassion; the direct experience of living in relationship with all beings of the world & learning one’s place within it.
We are presented with the opportunity and responsibility to bring forth an alternative education model for the future of life, and we must do so with a sense of urgency. So, questions:
- How can we design a school of life that integrates all generations and embeds youth in multiple rich, embodied, learning contexts?
- How can we begin iterating on alt. models by cooperating with the people and places we are in relationship with now? Where and when can we gather? What would it take to open up a new gathering place (place of learning), and where should that be?
- Where do alternative models exist? What is the range of educational institutions / learning models? What is working the best, and why? What are we uniquely positioned to offer here in the Valley?
- Who are the great teachers of our bioregion? Where are the project sites where advanced learnings and experiments are being put into practice?
- Who else should be a part of this team?
- What other details are we missing? What information is crucial for us to advance the mission of creating an holistic educational model that engages all people in relationship with the land and thus cultivates wisdom, compassion, and flourishing?
