Introduction

Contacting CAT is a pain. There are no emails listed on their website and one has to use a horrible web based form where only a single line of text can be entered and then only a few dozen characters can be seen. There's no way to attach images. There is a phone number though, and one might have better luck with it, where there's nothing in writing.

The company was helpful when I originally purchased the compressor. The compressor arrived with a leaking manifold and quick disconnect couplers, which they promptly replaced. When they say that their compressors are built overseas and assembled and tested in the US, maybe that's a comical way to say that the buyer performs testing and final assembly.

My warranty is out, and the first line person responded with blocks of copy-and-pasted text. There's nothing less authentic than to respond to a customer's question with a single demand for a receipt. You know a "It's not my problem" is coming. After some exchanges, came their disassociation to avoid liability. So, why did they send me parts to self-repair the compressor under warranty and recommend a trip to a local service center, which they could not recommend and made clear was not associated with them. What are there dangers of a three year old compressor?

Maybe there's been a corporate policy change since 2017. Now, they either replace the compressor or identify a service center to perform the work, parts and labor are covered. Unfortunate consequences of a litigious society.

Would I still recommend? The attention to noise and price are attractive and if highest priorities , then yes, but one may pay for it with time later to fix problems. Long term, given low cost and mixture of small problems, the CAT compressors feel disposable.

Is this an ASME code tank and if not what restrictions does OSHA place on its use?
