University of Oregon Student Workers is committed to the ideals of democratic, rank-and-file, militant unionism, and to the empowerment of all student workers at UO. The University works because we work; Without our labor, the university cannot function. We demand that our work be recognized and respected and that workers are compensated appropriately with respect to duties performed and the rising cost of living. We are committed to ensuring this through the use of our collective power. UOSW exists at a special position within the national labor movement and seeks to direct labor, through the training of new organizers and new union workers, towards the interest of the working class.
We recognize that student workers are disproportionately discriminated against due to their racial and ethnic identities, sexual orientation, gender, national origin, and socio-economic status. We are dedicated to building a sustainable, democratic, accessible, and equitable union that fights for the rights of student workers, students, and other workers on campus.
