Timeline:

1. The “Ignorant” are lovecraftian gods who inhabit a plane of higher power unknown to most people. They created the material reality by accident and aren’t even aware of its existence. Their numbers, origins, or the rules of their world, the “Immortal Realm” are unknown.
2. The “Mortal Realm” is where the story happens, where humans come from, the “normal world” so to speak. It was born from the delusions of the “Ignorant”.
3. In prehistory, the Mortal Realm was inhabited by a more intelligent species of people known as the “Ghaulmen” (not how they called themselves, this is a human name based on a species of crab of this world), bizarre crustaceans that had high magical perception. They organized themselves in extremely religious and rigorous cast-system societies.
4. Because of their magical prowess, the Ghaulmen built incredible magical advancements and discovered the truth about their reality.
5. The Ghaulmen believed that, if they could please the Ignorant, they would be gifted with the miracles and a paradisiac afterlife. For this, they built increasingly more decadent temples for them, eventually coming to create a dungeon now known as “The Penitence”.
6. The Ghaulmen managed to poke a hole through reality at the bottom of their extremely magically complex dungeon, getting just a tiny bit of a fraction of attention from the Ignorant, and they were instantly destroyed in an event now known as “The Miracle”.
7. Due to the higher levels of magic in the world after The Miracle, new sapient species quickly evolved: humans and elves from primates, furmen from felines, and sauroman from theropods.
8. Over the course of 250.000 years, these species rose into empires and nations of technology level similar to medieval times.
