- The Dungeon located in the City of Tall Hill, country of Oscku Confederation, and is known as “The Penitence”. It was originally a temple built by the long extinct species known as “Ghaulmen” millions of years ago as an attempt to please incomprehensible gods.
- The structure isn’t only physical, but digs deep into the barrier between dimensions too, and it “comes out” on the other side, in the Realm of Immortals.
- Though perceptible to only a few extremely capable mages, the whole structure is composed of extremely complex and intricate magical systems impossible to replicate in present times.
- Due to its connections to the Immortal Realm, the dungeon can grant wishes with “miracles”. This is why the place never runs out of loot through the ages. However, the upper levels of the dungeon can only grant smaller wishes, the greater the wish, the deeper one has to dive; one may find a handful of coins hidden away at layer 1, but a whole treasure chest in Layer 5.
- The challenges of the dungeon have multiple origins: some are completely new life born from the wild magic inside, some are fears of the citizens above materialized by the high levels of magic, and some are defense systems of the structure itself.
- The dungeon was re-discovered by the City of Tall Hill when it was a mere village, and it tried to dig a well. Due to the monsters inside and their religious beliefs, they used the dungeon as a trial for criminals: if they spent X time in the dungeon and came back alive, they were forgiven. Thus, the name “The Penitence”. It didn’t take long before they realized that those who survived the trial came back stronger, with amazing relics, however, and they soon started to monetize the place.
