Hello! My name is María Sotomayor de la Cruz and I'm currently pursuing a Master's degree in Museum Studies at George Washington University.
I'm actively located in the Washington DC area, but I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I completed my Bachelor's degree at the University of Puerto Rico Río Piedras campus in May 2021 with a double major in Sociocultural Anthropology and Archaeology.
My areas of interest include Puerto Rican and Latinx Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Historic Textiles, Colonial Archaeology, and Food Anthropology.
In this website, I've decided to post all my significant essays and projects that I've written throughout my academic career in order to share the depth of my research and future professional potential. All of these works are in Spanish, but I do have some translated excerpts if you're interested in reading my work!
I hope you enjoy!
