1. Request AWS Console Access and CLI Credentials

Before you begin, you need access to the WashU AWS group account. Submit your request through WashU ServiceNow. under Existing Cloud Subscription Change.

Include the following information in your request:

If you do not know the AWS Group Account number, contact Bill Zhuge or another group member with an AWS account.

Once approved, you will receive two separate emails with your credentials. Log in to the AWS via https://connect.wustl.edu/awsconsole.

2. Create an Amazon S3 Bucket

Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service) provides durable, cost-effective cloud-based object storage.

Use it to archive post-processed data and transfer files between Compute 1 and AWS.

Steps:

  1. Log in to the AWS Console (https://connect.wustl.edu/awsconsole), using your WashU credentials.
  2. In the top-right corner, set the region to United States N. Virginia (us-east-1).
  3. Search for S3 in the console search bar.
  4. Click Create Bucket (yellow button).
  5. Confirm settings and create bucket
